Event Structure & Terminology:

  • Fog of War:
    • Controlled release of details and information simulate a fog of war environment. All posted rules are full and complete.
  • Battle Period:
    • Defined as 13 consecutive days starting Monday to second Saturday. Sunday between Battle Periods is intended as break and for score calculations. The event is runs on UTC time unless otherwise specified.
  • Battle:
    • Team vs Team.
    • 5 rounds.
    • Battle Win: Team that earns 3 wins. Requires Team to have either Captain or Sergeant still standing for round to count as a win.
    • Battle Loss: Team that did not earn 3 wins.
    • Battle Tie: If 5 rounds are played and Teams are tied in wins: An additional Sudden Death round is played. The Team to lose their Captain first will lose the battle. Repeat Sudden Death until Teams are satisfied with unambiguous victory.
    • Other details will vary with each new period, stay updated here!
  • Mission Objectives:
    • Optional skill challenges for Teams to complete for earn additional points.
    • Requires submitted video.
  • Awards:
    • Optional achievements for Teams to earn additional points.
    • Requires submitted video.
  • Knocked Out:
    • Team is officially out of the event.
  • Point Breakdown:
    • Battle Win (3 wins of 5 rounds)
      • 10pts
    • Battle Loss
      • 5pts
    • Mission Objective Completed
      • Vary
    • Awards Earned
      • Vary

Rules:

  • Keep track of deadlines! Battle Periods are consecutive unless otherwise noted.
  • Earn points
    • Team(s) with lowest cumulative points at end of battle period will be Knocked Out.
  • Teams must engage in Battles with all other remaining Teams within the Battle Period.
    • Captains must consult other Captains to organize the Battles. Must use this forum for documentation purposes.
  • While Battle rules will remain constant, Battle Period rules are in effect for only the respective period.
  • Zero Tolerance for Cheating. This should not need to be said. Do not cheat, do not conspire to cheat.
  • Captains must confirm results of all Battles on forum, upon Battle completion.

Awards:

These are available throughout the event. A Team may only earn one award per Battle Period. If I feel that there are no teams that meet the criteria, I reserve the option to not present the award.

  • Ingenuity
    • As the event develops, I aim to raise the difficulty of the challenge.
      Event rules are designed to be few and vague. This promotes critical thinking and creativity, while maintaining fun. I want to see some ingenious plans to score points. May be unconventional.
  • Best Team Fails
    • This is a Team vs Team event. There will definitely be fails. Record and submit them for judging!
  • Best Team Synergy
    • This is a Team vs Team event. There is ample time to practice with your partner and build Team Synergy. If you think your Team has strong synergy, submit a video for judging!
  • Hidden awards
    • Like the name. Awarded if a Team manages to achieve it. Once revealed, not achievable by other teams.

Submitted Video Standard:

Captain must indicate what the video is being submitted for.
All submitted videos must include:

  • beginning of battle
  • all 5 rounds + all Sudden Deaths
  • end of battle
  • your full chat
  • your desktop date + time
  • No edits. Trimming to shorten length is allowed. Speeding up the video or adding a music track are considered editing. You may upload edited videos for publicity, but they will not be used for judging purposes.

Penalties:

If it doesn’t violate event rules, then it cannot be penalized. However, if subject to undue scrutiny, it may not earn the bonus points, but the Battle would remain valid.
Should a Battle be invalidated for whatever reason, the Teams will be notified of further action.
